In the End Deluxe

30 years after forming in Limerick (initially as The Cranberry Saw Us). With Stephen Street once again taking producer duties, the eleven-track record brings a remarkable career to a fitting and powerful closure. While it is tinged with sadness following Dolores’ unexpected death on January 15th 2018, ‘In The End’ is not a valediction, it is a celebration, one that stands as a powerful testimony to the life and creative work of Dolores and her brothers in music Noel, Mike and Fergal. The genesis of ‘In The End’ began in May 2017 while the band were on tour. By winter of 2017 Noel and Dolores had written and demoed the eleven songs which would eventually appear on the album.

The album is a strong goodbye from the band to their fans, a fitting tribute to their bandmate and friend and, most importantly, a collection of powerful songs that can take their rightful place with The Cranberries’ previous six records.

I was so overwhelmed when I received this today, I had no idea this deluxe edition would be in a book format.
I had a traumatic childhood and my books were essential for survival. It was so wonderful to see how good things could be.

My life is changing dramatically, as it has a number of times. It is my choice and to see something I know and love, the Cranberries in a ''storybook'' is a great comfort.
I love it so much.

The visual design is inspired! To see all the band members depicted as children is beautiful, playing in a God forsaken place of unwanted wreckage and happy to do so!
Very familiar.
All the while the little Cranberries clubhouse shack behind them, implying a refuge, a place of safety.
How beautiful.
At 50+ years of age I am still looking for a safe place!

In The End is a lovingly crafted tribute for Dolores O''Riordan and a tremendous gift for all.
The music is peaceful for the most part. It shimmers with glories of the past and a resigned optimism for better days.
Dolores was coming to terms with aging and the disillusionment of life. She voices it most eloquently, as was her nature, her lovely life enriching talent.

Backing vocalist Johanna Cranitch gives an inspired performance, she complements O''Riordan''s vocals very well.

Dolores was an exquisite spokesperson for those of us who have bipolar disorder, which does make it a challenge to relate to others.
Living with bipo is like being an egg surrounded by rocks and a rock surrounded by eggs! It vacillates constantly but moderation is possible.

It has been a wonderful privilege to experience all the work of the Cranberries and Dolores O''Riordan.
It truly has enriched my life in many ways.

To have this platform to express that is another privilege and I do not take it for granted.

I was so impressed she had survived so much and could still function enough to be real. Her music was her life and her life was her music, she gave us everything.

If this isn''t love then what is?

Dolores said she believed in ''Love and The Man Above'' and I do too.
For whatever reason He chose not to intervene at the time of her death.
I think it was between Him and Dolores, it would be foolish to try to reason it out.
There are some lights in this world that never go out and She is one of them.
Her loving talent is eternal.

For Her privileged friend, Mr. Koretsky I would like to say there is a place for everyone in this world and you are surrounded by stumblebums.
Please keep the faith.

So where do we go from here?

"Find your own direction ''cos there''s sweetness in the air..."

- Dolores O''Riordan

I''ve listened to The Cranberries for what seems like forever and I''m tempted to give this album 5 stars for that reason, and Dolores''s untimely and unexpected passing urges me to do this as well, but I want to be honest. The album is a lovely final album; it''s emotional and personal and absolutely worth listening to. The lyrics are beautiful, but honestly quite repetitive and the album itself lacks the charisma of their past work. I understand that the recordings may have needed some more tweaking which couldn''t possibly be done, but it''s silly to pretend that it doesn''t affect the final result. It'' a downer that this is their last album and I will always pop in a Cranberries CD from time to time, but it probably won''t be this one as much as others, though it will get replay. I''m happy that the remaining band members honored Dolores by releasing this final album as I''m sure she would have wanted it heard. The album is worth the purchase and the one I received came in a book format with lyrics...very cool. I give it 4 stars.

"In The End" is possibly the best record they''ve released, or at least the most complete, out of the bands entire catalogue. Considering it was the result of demos recorded just before Delores O''Riordan passed away last year, there doesn''t sound like there''s any filler here. It comes off as very focused and I imagine it was considering this was the final album and a tribute to her. Well done... she was one of a kind and this is a lovely way to say goodbye.

As this is the Last album from the Cranberries, I cannot recommend this enough. this Deluxe edition, however, is an actual book form of the album. It''s a beautiful way to showcase her last chapter. There are no additional tracks but worth the price if you can find it! The vocals are taken from demo versions of what these songs were going to become, and sometimes you can tell Dolores O''riodan was just getting a feel for these melodies and lyrics. Not as powerful as past albums, but incredible nonetheless. If you are/were a fan, this is worth picking up!

So glad Dolores O''Riordan''s family gave permission and the band decided to complete this final Cranberries album, allowing some sort of closure for this fan, and hopefully for her family and band mates.

A brilliant writer, vocalist and performer gone too soon. All did a fine job with the material they had. Emotions aside, it must have been challenging to complete an album without the opportunity to alter, amend, or add to the vocals recorded. My hat is off to all who had a part in this final project ever even being completed.

Dolores'' passing affects me the way the passing of Jerry Garcia initially affected me. Sadness at the musical genius possibly having so much more yet to give us.

To all who struggle with feelings, or indulgences, I wish I could hug you. Your creativity and brilliance lives on, though, and I also feel so much joy enjoying your music.

When I heard some weeks ago that The Cranberries had released a new album/CD with never heard songs, and making it a memorable goodbye for the band, at least with the tragically departed Dolores... I just couldn''t wait to have it... and yes in CD, old school way.

I just received last week, and the CD is filled with songs that just represent what The Cranberries has and will always be, a band with great melodies and lyrics, appealing to lots of people, and with lead singer which voice and interpretations can hardly be compared to anyone else...

If you are a fan of The Cranberries, you can not miss having this Album in your CDs shelf or your digital media downloads.

Enjoy, and god bless Dolores wherever she is.

This is an excellent final Cranberries album. I know some reviews are panning the album as incomplete demos etc but there is nothing about this album that seems incomplete or anything less than the quality and depth of their last albums. In fact I think this is one of their strongest albums. It’s got the magic of the first two albums while also sounding fresh. There are songs that harken back to Linger, Dreams and Zombie on here without sounding like remakes. Every song is nothing less than great but the two great standouts in my opinion are “A Place I Know” and “Summer Song.” A perfect conclusion for the band and a wonderful swan song for Dolores.

My favorite thing about this CD is that it comes in a little hardback book. The book''s cover has 4 kids representing each of the band members (who, I suspect, are children of the band members - but I could be wrong about that) in a junkyard, which is awesome. The interior of the book tells the story of the album''s creation, has the lyrics for each of the songs, a page with what appears to be school photos of each of the band members, and a group photo with the kids from the cover and the surviving three band members. So much awesome.

It''s sad that this will be the last time we''ll hear Delores O''Riordan''s lovely Irish lilt singing new Cranberries songs. Also sad is that the songs were final-demo versions and could have maybe used a little fine-tuning before being recorded for the final album. But that doesn''t mean they''re not great. The singing is beautiful, and the songs are worthy additions to the Cranberries catalog.

The album''s title song couldn''t be more representative of The Cranberries signature sound.

"''In the end'' is out today. We hope you like it. We''d like to take this opportunity to thank you, our fans and followers for the support you have given us throughout our career especially in the past year and throughout the release of our final album, "In the end", it has meant the world to us. And we would above all ask you to join with us in thanking Dolores for leaving the songs and the music that enabled us to make this album, and her family for giving us their blessing to put these recordings out." It is simply impossible to listen to the Cranberries without getting emotional, following Dolores'' passing, I bet most Cran fans cannot listen to their songs without being moved. I ain''t a softie, but just holding the CD of this and looking at the lovely cover artwork was enough to make me well up. Partly recorded before the tragic death of Dolores O''Riordan, and described as a gift from her, this posthumous album sees the band''s career go full-circle. Weighing sadness against hope, almost everything about it exudes finality. The unpolished edge of the demo vocals she had already recorded are a clear throwback to the band''s debut, transporting listeners right back to the beginning of an unforgettable journey. "Ain''t it strange when everything you wanted was nothing that you wanted in the end?", she sings on the title track that closes the record. Ain''t it strange, indeed. Melancholic but also joyful, pieced together with loving care by her surviving bandmates, "In the end" is a little beauty, a worthy epitaph for O''Riordan and the band''s legacy. Thank you for the music, the lyrics, and the tears, too. Dolores, miss you when you''re gone, may you rest in peace x

My main concern being the recording wouldn''t sound "together" or "of a piece", but I needn''t have worried. This is an excellent album which stylistically harks back to the early Cranberries albums without being a rehash of them, and is all the better for it. In my opinion this is up there with "Everybody Else is Doing It" and "No Need to Argue", and definitely a worthwhile addition to my Cranberries collection. Farewell Dolores, and thanks to the band for this fitting swansong

Although O''Riordan''s voice is as beautiful as ever, most of the tracks contain repetitive lyrics and lack much of a punch.
