Eddy Arnold, THE WORLD OF HITS, MGM JB2-5017. Lp dates about March, 1976. It was MGM''s last attempt to skim off some money with a shoddy product, repackaged TV offer Lp recuts/re-recordings/retread fake "hits," after Eddy went back to RCA/Victor.

Two Lp set, MGM period, 1973-1974 recordings, four sides at five songs per, 20 tracks total. Only five tracks of this are via MGM''s regular album releases; the bulk (the other fifteen tracks) of this NOT-hits comp are sourced from an AWFUL Ktel TV offer junk special offer album, EDDY ARNOLD LIVING LEGEND, Ktel International 307. The songs not from that junk TV package are:

"Once in a While" (Side one, track #3)
"My Special Angel" (Side two, track #3)
"I Almost Lost My Mind" (Side two, Track #4)
"If The Whole World Stopped Lovin''" (Side three, track #5)
"At The Close of a Long, Long Day" (Side four, track #5)
--All the five above-listed tracks are from Eddy''s first MGM album, SO MANY WAYS, SE-4878, which dates early 1973.

The balance of the 2Lp set are sloppy 1973-74 re-recordings of his RCA period for that As Seen On TV album.

Lp jacket is a fold-out 2Lp gatefold. Inner gatefold has a couple b&w photos of Eddy and the song listings, referencing MGM Records (see the five listed above) and KTel International (on the "hits" from his 1945-1973 RCA period).

One and a half stars. The only reason to pick up this album is if you''re a hard-core Eddy Arnold collector who wants everything, even 1974 re-recorded versions of 1940s-1960s hits.
